      Fields and mountains
        all taken by snow;
      nothing remains
                (Joso, trans. Horioka, amended by Marsh)

ACHAAN CHAH (Buddhist Monk)

The tree has its own pace
Your job is to dig a hole, water and fertilize it,
and protect it from insects,
But the way the tree grows is up to the tree….
Work in progress...

Iris Bouwmeester shows that nothing ought to be fixed for the artist.
That the intrinsic doubt that is inherent to an artist should serve as the basis for taking action.
This is a vulnerable attitude, but also the only way in which the artist can approach a core, an originality in a human being. Iris Bouwmeester’s artistry shows that in all its fibres.

                                            Come see my work alongside other amazing artists.

I have been busy making some work for the exhibition at the Islington contemporary art fair. I made a series of hand made coils for the wall. Rest together. These are unfired,  to see them finished,  you would have to come see the show at Candid art trust.

These crafting works by the famous artist Patrick Dougherty was absolutely eye-catching, he calls it “stickwork ”.  Crafting human-sized nest houses made by actually weaving growing trees into the shapes of houses, cocoons, pagodas, huts, giant water pitchers and even people.

This is a great picture of Jim Turner and me discussing his extruder and pug mill. If I ever go to the Cork region, I'll definitely go and check out his studio. (His work is mostly extruded) http://www.rossmorepottery.com.  Picture by Frances (Thank you).
